Celebrating Australia Awards’ impact in Nepal in 2024

Australia Awards – Nepal has released its 2024 Year in Review, showcasing significant achievements and outcomes from the past year. This document highlights the impact of Australia Awards through Scholarships, short-term training and alumni engagement.

Key highlights from the Year in Review for Nepal include:

  • In 2024, Australia Awards celebrated the highest number of Nepali scholars completing their courses since 2015. Thirty-two Nepalis (18 women, 14 men) completed their degrees with the support of Australia Awards Scholarships.
  • Eighteen diverse applicants from Nepal received Scholarships for study commencing in 2025.
  • Indigenous engagement activities across Australia gave Nepali scholars the opportunity to learn about the achievements, history and culture of Australia’s First Nations people.
  • Australia Awards provided training opportunities tailored to support Australia’s engagement with Nepal, enhancing participants’ knowledge and networks, and facilitating partnerships with Australian institutions. These included supporting 19 Nepali participants in two Short Courses and 30 individuals in eight separate Australian Professional Opportunities.
  • Five Nepalis joined other alumni from South Asia and Mongolia at the 2024 Regional Alumni Workshop in Bhutan. Attendees enhanced their networks and ability to pursue gender equality, aligning with the workshop’s theme of ‘Bridging the gender gap and supporting local women leaders’.
